Full house remodeling project in Austin Tx
This is a home office remodeling project that we have completed in Austin Tx. In the previous post you can see a soundproof home recording studio we built in this home which is also a part of this ongoing full house remodeling project. The homeowners were so impressed with the woodwork that they asked us if we would remodel the home office. I have always been a fan of squares within squares.
This office can account of two months of my life with one other person to complete. We hand selected all of the raw dimensional lumber. We then glued the boards and clamped them together. After they dried we then sliced them with the band saw which gave us these beautiful layered panels. We then mitre cut, cut the center panels, glued, nailed, and clamped the boards together. This is what was used for all of the panels and doors. We then planed the doors, sanded them down, and hand finished all of the wood. The book cases and wainscot were completed first and are all made of solid mahogany.
We were asked to build the desk after the homeowner saw the way the cabinets in back were coming along. We also built the door frames and had the glass company come out to install the panes. The 2 windows were constructed by Pella, but our finish put theirs to shame. The floors are Anderson wood floors. The walls were finished with a plaster.
